Open Garden Day
Today we attended our first Open Garden Day and what a treat it was. There were eight gardens in our local village taking part this year. Not all were to my taste, but that doesn't matter. They all had something to offer, and the money raised goes to charity. At £3 entry for all 8 gardens, this was a bargain.
We made some new friends, met new people and discovered some new plants. One gardener even gave me a free water iris for my pond .... now that's nice!
We purchased some food and drinks while we were there and got chatting to our new "neighbours" ... I always feel you can learn something from each other.
One gardener keeps bees ... we learned all about the basics on how to keep them, and later purchased some honey that had been collected the day before ... can't beat that, can you?
Need to do more of this and visit other towns and villages in the area.
Nice day.
Update:
Just tasted some of the honey we purchased today ... nice ... yummy ... shall I have some more honey or eat another bowl of freshly picked strawberries?
