Susine - plum

We had to cut this cherry plum (I think it must be a variety of Mirabelle) tree back when we cleared out huge overgrown evergreen hedging trees six years ago. It’s slowly come back and each year I prune it to shape.

I started work on the weedy compacted gravel driveway today, loosening the top two inches with the rotavator and picking out the weeds and the soil on their roots. Plays hell on the hamstrings and the effect of smart lines and a clean surface won’t last long. But it was a beautiful sunny day with lots of birdsong.
