Tadpole Soup

Ok, not the most endearing wild-life shot, but there you go; I've spent the morning cleaning the pond filter and the bird feeders.

Given the main clump of frogspawn is about one meter in diameter and that the tadpoles in this shot are less than a centimetre long you can imagine both how many there are and how carefully I held onto the camera as I leaned over them!

The koi and other big fish don't appear to have noticed them yet, which is a delight and a surprise. I've been feeding them from the other end of the pond to get them used to food being 'over there' rather than over there... but we might have a considerable frog harvest this year.
