Local History
This is the view across the Slipper Mill Pond at Emsworth - a saline lagoon. The pond was built in the 1790s to power the Slipper Mill which supplied meal to the Navy in Portsmouth. It’s now owned and managed by a preservation society and is rich in in wildlife.
Here we are looking north west towards the town, and relatively newly constructed apartments overlooking the pond and a boat mooring area. There is usually plenty of interest here - boats moving or being repaired, birds on the pond, walkers and joggers passing by. We often walk here with Merlin, and sometimes sit with a treat from the bakery whilst we enjoy the view!
Grateful:
- To everyone who commented on my 3000th Blip yesterday. It’s greatly appreciated.
- To make some progress with a few things which had been lingering and which had been proving a little tricky to bottom out.
- For rhubarb sponge and custard for dessert this evening.
