Birthday walk

Had a lie in and then put our boots in and headed towards Charmouth. Not quite as muddy as yesterday but definitely squidgy in some gate ways.  The sun came out and the views were pretty good.  Stopped for coffee and cake in Charmouth and then had a poke along the back looking for fossils. It was really busy with people filling bags with stuff they were picking up.  We found some smooth sea glass and a few interesting stones but no great fossils. Had a walk along the beach and then headed back along the coastal path. There were some long steep hills. 
The sun stayed out long enough for us to have a late lunch in the garden and watch the daytime bay again.  We used the bat detector to try and work out what kind it was.  There was a green woodpecker in the cottage garden and another drumming somewhere close by. 
Fell asleep after a hot bath and then had to wake up a bit before our evening meal.  There was birthday cake and candles and cards brought from home.  Owls were hooting away as I set up my trail cam by the orchard.
