Invitation declined

In The Peak District today at Castletown. This sign and old gate to a footpath up to Mam Tor looked very inviting. However, we saw a number of walkers yesterday (of about our age) who had clearly fallen foul of the slippery ground judging by the extent of the mud on jacket backs and sleeves. Whilst none appeared the worse for their tumblings we nevertheless decided to stay on the metalled paths and roads in the valley today. Invitation declined.
