Book Review - Gravel Rides Lake District

I'm not a strong gravel biker, confining myself to familiar Forestry routes on an old all-purpose bike, but I really am inspired to have a go at one or two of these routes.
Review - Vertebrate Press
Gravel Rides Lake District by Andrew Barlow
'A super-handy little book to take with you on your next (or first) gravel bike adventure.
With clear map lay out and succinct written directions it has nevertheless a very friendly feel and is not at all intimidating for a novice. Author Andrew Barlow assures us that ‘it’s always ok to get off and push your bike.’ The fifteen adventures are graded into Easy, Straightforward and Challenging routes so that whether you are just trying out or are up for some rough going upland routes, there is something for everyone.
The ethos of enjoyment and being in the moment outdoors shines through the photographs and the text. Whatever your ability, with any bike, just go for the ride. Throughout the text there are lines of description about the scenery and history of the places passed through, as well as a run-down on the likely state of the path’s surface. Nice touches are the Coffee and Food shop suggestions and a go-to bike repair shop with each route and listed with telephone numbers at the back.
For those with more time to spare, or who want to make gravel biking their  holiday, Andrew has created a Lake District 270km joining together gravel routes in a grand circumnavigation of the Cumbrian Mountains. It also means that wherever you live/stay in the lakes or surrounds there is always a section on your doorstep that you can access.
