Taizé, France

Time to change hotel today. We packed the car and set off on the next leg of our journey. We decided to take the longer scenic route up and over the mountains rather than the motorway around them. It was a long drive but well worth it, even though the weather wasn't as good and it was raining in parts.

We stopped for a look round the Abbey in St Claude and a short walk through the streets. Eventually we arrived at our destination, the main reason for the visit. This bit is study more than holiday!

We are staying just outside the village but after our evening meal at the hotel we finally made it to Taizé. We had time to look around the village before the evening service. This is the village church not the community church, you're not allowed to take photos in the community church apart from between 1 - 2pm. This church was beautiful in its simplicity and the power of silence was overwhelming.

The evening service at Taizé was wonderful. Approx 1,100 people of lots of different nationalities. It was such a special time. We stayed for a long time after the service had finished and we're looking forward to going back tomorrow.
