Alexander's Rag Time Band

Actually, I have described the double rainbow in a previous entry some 11 years ago, but it bears repeating because one does not always see the double easily, although the second one is always there, just too faint to make out.

Notice the colour reversal on the bands of the upper rainbow.

The band between the rainbows is always a little darker than the surrounding sky and is called Alexander´s Band, not to be confused with the one in the title by Irving Berlin. This was named after Alexander of Aphrodisias, who first recorded it in about 200BC.

I wonder if he was famous for anything else.

Happy birthday big bro.
