strawberry fields forever
it's been a terrible year for strawberries - not enough sun, too much rain, too hot, too cold - and, suddenly, this week, they are all ripe - tonnes and tonnes and tonnes of them. Apparently, the supermarkets have been tremendously supportive of the strawberry growers and are helping shift the masses of strawberries by selling them off cheap - but giving the farmers a good price and reducing their own profit margins. Whilst I know I should probably only mention supermarkets whilst spitting and throwing petrol bombs or something, I have to say, sometimes their behaviour is admirable. So, today I went and bought a load of cheap strawberries - some were eaten by this elegant young lady, the rest made into jam.
This week has been mainly about taking life apart into its tiniest pieces and trying to put it back together again. It's not an easy task and it's exhausting on all levels. I hope that it might be worth it in the end.
