Eye to Eye

Common Sandpiper …

… but not common in Switzerland (if Merlin app has identified it correctly). I had no idea what it was. The last 100 breeding pairs in Switzerland breed in semi-natural river floodplains in the Alps. The area of mud you see here is not normally visible.

The level of Lake Geneva has been reduced by about 2m this spring so the work can be done on the structures around the lake and removal of tons of tree trunks and rubbish that come down the Rhône river, is easier. The water level is controlled by the Seujet Dam right in the middle of Geneva… the things you find out because of Blip when you start asking why?

Hope you have had a lovely weekend. We had a great lunch with 11 friends today, hosted by a ex-student’s parents who are the most wonderful chefs!

We are concerned about Mr. Preston, one of our cats who is always in the wars! He has an infected ear and has to have three medications a day, not a happy cat.

Thanks for placing yesterday’s snow flutes on the first popular page, honoured.
