David Stirling

The phantom major who created a storm!

David Stirling, said to be the founder of the SAS, was borne on Keir Estate between Dunblane and Doune and a statue was erected nearby in 2002 in his memory. Beautifully positioned it certainly stands out in the landscape.

The photo in extras is the Wallace Monument (again!) showing how prominent it is in the area. Taken from the Carse of Stirling, a location I know well once having a house there!
