Sally Mair - Loving life

By Sallymair

glory days

The beauty of the old Binns building appears to be marred by an outbreak of stone pox! It looks as if the stone has been repaired but that there has been little or no attempt to colour match, it really does look dreadful.
I have a great affection for this building:
As a child I watched for the soldiers marching around the clock, every time we came into town
I worked here for my first Saturday job.
I met boyfriends under the clock
I abseiled down the side
It's sad to see it looking like this, yet there would appear to be plenty of money involved in funding its current incarnation so surely cost is not a factor.
I was in town today seeing the hygienist to check all was well with my implants and that I was looking after them properly. I was delighted to hear I was doing a good job. I can't afford for anything to go wrong with them!
After I got home Ali and the girls came round. Yesterday, I had bought Ali and I a chocolate croissant from the famed Lannan Bakery in Stockbridge. They only open a few days a week and sell out very quickly so I was looking forward to it... and we forgot all about it.
She brought it round today and I warmed it up, and do you know what, I was disappointed, we both were. The pastry was nice enough but there was only a tiny dot of chocolate in the very centre. I won't be rushing back to buy another. I had half of one of their cardamom buns for breakfast and that was good, but the chocolate croissant was almost sailing under false pretences.
So that was about it for today, and already it's Friday, how the weeks are flying by - our newest baby is 10 weeks old already
