The Courtauld

The Frank Auerbach exhibition was incredible but this small Mary Cassatt sketch stole my heart. Anyone who has ever held a child to soothe them will recognise the shape of this woman's mouth and chin. The way they are pushed slightly out of place by the curve of the child's head. It brought back so many memories and emotions. A quietly powerful piece by a wonderful artist.
