SMUHA 2024

Still a cold wind, but dry and sunny spells in the afternoon.  Clear skies tonight.

Up early, a morning around the house.  Laura, Shaun and Olly popped by for a cuppa.  We headed down, picked mam up and headed to the South Mainland Up Helly Aa. Lunch at Boddam Hall, then the Dunrossness school UHA procession.  Walkies with Sammy and popped by Madeline's.  Picked up friend Julie, mam and then Laura, we headed down to the main procession this evening.  Due to the single track roads, as a spectator we didn't see much, no lightening and had to dodge fallen torch heads too.  The burning was beautiful on the beach, followed by fireworks.  Might try a pint later.

What a wonderful afternoon watching the daytime procession, put on annually by the school.  They left the school, marched along the road with the galley and Jarl Squad, then burned the galley in the sports field.  A good crowd watching and enjoyed the event.  The last of the nursery bairns with the Jarl Squad in the procession, outside the Boddam Hall.
