Mum's Rose

A wee story: when I bought this house in 2002 it was with the intention of bringing my then 90 year old Mum to live with me. Which I duly did. Sadly, she died in 2003 on the first day of the election campaign. Impeccable timing!

Her house in Glasgow hadn't been sold by that point & when it was, my brother & I took some of the plants from the front garden, including this rose. Despite roses allegedly not being easy to transplant this one was just howked out, driven to Crieff and put straight into the ground where it has flowered happily every year since :-). It is very pretty but has no scent. I have no idea what variety it is so I just call it Mum's Rose. I guess a lot of us have something similar going on in their gardens!

For some reason the feverfew I also brought from Glasgow doesn't generate quite the same emotion with me.
