Ornithologist Wanted.

A good friend of ours found this feather on the Canal Bank this morning and asked if I new what bird it might be from and I have no idea, so if anyone has any Ornithology Knowledge and can help we would love to know.
My first thought was a Barn Owl, or small bird of prey.
