Meine Familie

This is an English cemetery where several generations of my German born relatives are buried.

My Grandparents were morally brilliant but in the wrong place and the wrong time *twice*. Though they always insisted they were treated with dignity and respect in England during both world wars, they were never home, and in the brief time I knew them I felt that sadness. They now lay here in peace.

My father is also here who was forced to commit many horrible atrocities in the name of war. The nightmares never left him, and while we never believed in a God or an afterlife, I can at least know he is in peace in whatever truth lies ahead.

Other generations of my German family rest here in Cambridge much to the annoyance of my Munich branch of the tree. It's lovingly looked after by volunteers so that all can be peacefull, even those alive who look over the burials. When I need some peace, I will sometimes come here and tend to the grounds myself - it's a lovely place even though it's religious in nature.

Certainly not a great photo, but hope the message behind it describes "peaceful". Peace to both of my homelands.

Oh and peace to my car in the background, my beloved Alfa :-)
