Viewpoint
Today's walk took us from the village of Sirach onto the Ambullas plateau. We arrived at the familiar viewpoint above the UNESCO fortified garrison town of Villefranche from a different direction and stopped for a picnic lunch at the Romanesque sheepfold which was used in mediaeval times for cheesemaking. For a while we followed the irrigation canal which then crossed the valley on an aqueduct. It is one of the few canals still with running water in it. The canal de Bohère is an impressive 41 kilometres in length and irrigates several of the local valleys. Our walk was 11 kilometres with 400 metres of ascent. There were only four of us today but we all enjoyed doing a walk that none of us had done before.
I've just noticed that today is a milestone, 4500 blips. Who would have thought it!?
