Farewell to Ullapool
So it's 'so long' Ullapool as we wave you goodbye this morning.
We have enjoyed our brief stay with you. It was unlucky that you gave us rain for our first day and sheer bad management on your part for a repeat on the second day.
But we bear you no malice, we have seen you once upon a time in the sun, although not I fear, the last time when we stayed with Berkeleyblipper and Oilman.
Nevertheless you were kind enough to give us a short respite last night, just time enough for us to sit on your harbour wall with our fish and chips and bottle of wine. It's a tradition we like to continue when we stay with you.
It was good that you warned off the midges, maybe by lowering the temperature a tad, so that we could use both hands to eat and not require one of them to bat the little devils away.
You must even have had a word in the ear of the harbour's seagulls, as they stayed clear too, and only annoyed the German couple sitting nearby.
And so, it's au revoir as we leave you yet again in the clouds and head SE to Elgin and a mini gathering of the clan. We will return sometime, hoping that you can arrange better weather.
