The Stevens Cup
Rugby Club first thing, non slip treads and lights and sockets tripping mcb’s. Installing the treads was easy enough the rest of it not so for a combination of reasons, tools going missing and the gradual mess the electrics is again descending towards.
Midday more upbeat, coffee and cake with the ‘Old Thursday Gang’ who, for a variety of reasons, no longer go to the club, like last week, just like old times.
The evening saw me at our local sea cadet unit, T.S Robert Hichens, for their annual prize giving. The Cadet Of The Year wins the RNA Cup and with it a bursary for a weeks sea training. Last year the C.O of the unit asked if the RNA would provide a replacement trophy for the New Entry Cadet Of The Year. The existing trophy was quite a small cup, egg cup size, and having given it some thought I decided to provide the replacement trophy myself.
Using information supplied by my late Mum & Dad I had a decent sized cup engraved as;
Stevens Cup
T.S Hichens
The Best New Entry Cadet
It commemorates nine generations of the Stevens family serving in the U.K Military.
Feeling just a little proud tonight.
