The Rookery .

We left the park just as the sun flung out a last few rays before it set. The corvids were gathering in their undisguised, functional nests and on the surrounding higgledy piggledy fretwork of twigs and branches. A noisy , confident bunch of rooks according to the Merlin app. The rookery has been present for all of the 42 years that we have lived here but we have never been present at the precise moment that the corvid community comes home to roost .
Today was special in that all our children and grandchildren were gathered in the same space , Arthur had his first schoolboy birthday party , held in a soft play centre which worked really well. Pizza , cake, ice cream and manic running around !!
Our weekend has been a happy one with “quantity time “ spent with the Chesterfield family, they are back next weekend for a weeks stay, time for some days out hopefully. Somehow Isaac and I managed to fit in the making of two loaves of sour dough bread, such a treat to get that time together amidst the challenges of looking after small people . The
