At work we have small pond where Mrs Duck comes every year and she is hotly pursued by at least 2 Mr Ducks. The first brood of approximately 8 chicks came to a sad end due to one of the Mr Ducks wanting her to have only his chicks and then these were the only 2 chicks to survive from her 2nd brood. It's sad to know how nasty the drakes can be to the chicks but that is nature.
