But, then again . . . . .

Toadstool.

I spent a large part of today assembling the racing trike ready for its annual outing in a few weeks time. Last year the front forks broke about three quarters of the way through the race. She's an old lady, built in the early sixties and has had a lot of hard use, so I had to check everything to make sure it was economic to repair before going a head, it wasn't, but I carried on anyway. The checking involved shot blasting the frame to make sure there were no other imminent failures waiting around the corner, and then repainting with matt black hammerite; the end result looks surprisingly good, though I don't know how durable the finish will be.
It's taken a while sourcing replacements as the forks were non-standard since, like most trikes, this one has two front brakes; fitting a brake at the other end would provide a new and interesting set of problems.

Anyway, I only took the one photo today and hoped it would suffice.
This toadstool resides on a stump of a sycamore that was cut down about fifteen years ago, it resides in a dark damp corner behind the shed and nature has been allowed to take its course. Under the shed lives a colony of mice which may account for the chewed corners, but I suspect squirrels and slugs have also joined in the sculpting process.
