Female Siskin
We have many Siskin (lucherino in Italian) (Spinus spinus) at the birdfeeder. Their migration south into the Mediterranean is unpredictable but probably based on the weather in the subarctic/Northern European regions. Their predominant foods are seed from alder and fir trees but are very adaptable. Cheery birds they were often kept as captive song birds. Apparently flocks have strong hierarchies and junior birds will regurgitate food for their seniors of the same sex. I’m guessing they will be off soon to fly north. Which wouldn’t be so bad as they are displacing our resident sombre tits, blue and cole tits and nuthatches.
