Colin the orphaned Jackdaw
My neighbours rescued Colin when his nest fell down the chimney at a friend's house. The other two chicks died in the fall!!
Here he is, in true Jackdaw style, pecking at the shiny mother of pearl button on my cardigan.
The light wasn't very good today for shots in the house and I didn't want to use flash, but I think you can just see that he has the most beautiful pale blue eyes!!!
Colin is just learning to fly and feed for himself, he is inquisitive and very sociable. He will flutter round the garden from tree to tree and come back when you call his name.
Richard has made a perch in the living room and Colin is creating a wonderful piece of art on the paper below it - A Jackdaw Pollock!!
While the long term plan is for Colin to return to the wild, Jackdaws do bond very strongly with humans if hand reared so it is quite likely that he will remain tame, coming and going as he pleases.
Friday! Yay! Have a super duper weekend one and all!
Oops! It has been drawn to my attention that it is in fact Thursday - Damn!
