Sitting it out

At the eco poetry course today in Brixham Library we were given half an hour to go out and look at the sea and imagine what could happen if there was a huge flood, as a result of climate change, and then return to write a poem in 15 minutes. Challenging.The sea is not on the doorstep but there are good views from the narrow streets and lanes above the town. 
In the afternoon we went for a walk along the sea at Paignton. I have never seen so many ships sheltering in the bay on such a calm and pleasant day. You can see some in the sea beyond Brixham. Was it our poems or bad weather forecast for Sunday. A mixture perhaps. Hard to believe. There were four container ships among them, and a ship loaded with super yachts. Probably stay in tomorrow.
