Local Food Treats!

No, I didn't buy this trio at the Bellingham Farmers Market -- they arrived in the mail today, beautifully packaged, all the way from Sonoma County, California. Berkeleyblipper sent them to us, a lovely thank you for their visit here in May.

The hot sauce and chile jams are among the products grown and produced by Tierra Vegetables, run by Lee and Wayne James, a sister/brother team, who farm 20 acres in Sonoma County. In addition to growing a wide range of vegetables, fruits, and fresh flowers in their market garden, they also grow more than 20 varieties of both dried beans and chiles and sweet peppers, and grow and mill their own corn meal.

The Turkish hot sauce will be a new taste thrill for us, as will the Farm Blend chile jam on the left, described as "a blend of our finest red and green chiles," with a "medium" hotness level, and the chile jam on the right -- Rojo, "a red jalapeño and red sweet pepper blend," rated "Medium Hot."

We'll enjoy these thoughtful treats now, and hope to visit Berkeleyblipper and her husband -- and Tierra Vegetables, among the many local food meccas where they live -- in the not-too-distant future!
