Wet and Grey Day

Hubby and I were up reading until 2:00 am - why? Probably too much coffee and a late day nap. Once we got up, we got busy. I changed bed linens, washed laundry and emptied the dishwasher. Hubby spent most of the day working on miscellaneous paperwork. He will do my mother’s taxes but has to gather all the necessary documents. She gave him a box of her official files to separate for the task. He also made reservations in Virginia Beach for us to attend Brooklyn’s next soccer tournament in early March. Hotels are so expensive there; we will stay in a Navy Lodge. I deleted over 1,000 photos today. Yippee! Hubby showed me a neat feature that I used to open all my photos with a road. Oh my, I must have captured every tree from home to WV and TN, every traffic jam we have ever been in, every “welcome to..“ sign, etc. And many were almost duplicates. I am not finished but it felt good to at least get started. On the way to get Brooklyn from school, I stopped to photograph signs of spring, with limited success. It was chilly and pouring rain. I have only found one tree with budding leaves but in this overcast wet weather, the branches were black silhouettes. I am sure others will burst forth soon. The rain kissed buds on this star magnolia provided a much better blip. Brooklyn and I came to her house for the night. Mancil will get home later. Their parents planned a weekend trip to Charlottesville months ago with another couple. The wife’s father passed away unexpectedly last night so of course, she and her husband stayed home. Kim could not cancel their reservations; she and Mancil went alone. It sure isn’t the same without Trek here to greet me. Shadow is more than willing to snuggle and demand I pet her. Makes typing dicey. Hubby will stop by for dinner but otherwise, we will enjoy the start of the weekend quietly. Sending wishes that your plans work out safely and perfectly. Thanks for your visit. “The first bud of spring sings the other seeds into joining her uprising.” - Amanda Gorman
