New arrivals

The Iris Reticulata appeared in the garden around mid week. These are the dark blue/ purple ones we have had planted in this bed for many years. The brighter blue ones in pots are much newer and have now gone over. No sign, sadly, of the pretty pale blue Clairette purchased at Burton Agnes some years ago and which has only appeared twice over the intervening years.

Not seen till today is the first bud of the Anemone Blanda and also in this bed the Tete a Tete are starting to open.

Popped up to the Tittle Tattle Teashop late morning to return the Sistine Chapel jigsaw and hit the right Friday for the discussion at the end of the session. I enjoy this but often forget which Friday it is.
Today’s topic was hate speech and where is the line between free speech and inciting offence and hatred. An interesting subject not easily resolved.

After lunch Chris, unusually in for a Friday, wanted to go around a few garden centres for seeds etc. we got two varieties of Cosmos and some Tumbling Tom tomato seeds. Also a tray of pansies for the drive wall top pots.
He also got a heated propagator. It’s his birthday present, though that isn’t till July, and it replaces the one he has had for years that had been his mother’s. It blew up in December and took out the kitchen electrics literally just before Christmas, thankfully it was soon restored when the cause was discovered! Onwards to Spring.
