Golden Years
I received my Gold Medal from Diabetes UK today, "celebrating" living with Type 1 Diabetes for 50+ years. It is awarded in memory of Alan Nabarro a pioneer in the world of ensuring people with hidden disabilities (especially Diabetes) were not discriminated against.
I have never seen Diabetes as a disability, having had it from age 3 it has been there for as long as I can remember and has just been something to manage/ignore as far as possible.
So far, the only things it has stopped me doing is rock climbing and flying a plane!!
