Windy history

On a very windy day (can see the clouds sweeping over the mountain Serles) I visited the Goarmbichl site. One of the most important pre-Roman sites in the Innsbruck basin. It is a hilltop settlement from the La Tène period, which can therefore be dated to around 400 to 150 BC, and represents a settlement of the Alpine Celts. As a peripheral site, it is one of the most important settlements on the Goldbichl.

The foundation walls of two residential buildings of a large farmstead have been preserved. The settlement was probably located just a few metres above the level of Lake Viller See. The buildings have a characteristic floor plan, with an angled, narrow, elongated corridor and a comparatively spacious main or living room.
