Grotesque

A trip to Oxford today to get a few last minute bits and pieces for Catie's trip, amongst them a couple of Grotesques, copies of ones gracing the chapel tower of New College, carved around 1400 or so (that counts as "new" in Oxford). They are destined to be gifts for the parents of Catie's girlfriend when she stays with them.

The day after tomorrow Catie will be a long, long way away, flying across the Atlantic to Canada all on her own - it's a strange and mixed sensation: happy that she's embarking on an adventure, worried about her, and the sudden visceral realisation that she has become an adult.
