How can people be so dishonest

We had a visit from our Nextdoor neighbours saying they were moving to New York and thanking us for being new neighbours. Sad we thought but they had re good neighbours as tenants

The next day we had a phone call out of the blue from the owners of the house asking if we had seen the tenants as they couldn’t contact them.

Funny we thought. The tenants were doing a runner owing thousands of dollars
