Botanicals

A very interesting morning spent finding out about distilling.

For someone with an intermittent, and unreliable, sense of smell being offered a huge variety of things to sniff tends to be a bit disappointing. However, for once my nose was operating vaguely normally and I could actually smell most things I was supposed to. Apart from cucumber that was a total blank.

The botanicals in the picture are for making a spiced gin and smelled like Christmas. The best thing I got to sniff though was the wild turkey bourbon cask waiting patiently to be filled with whisky later in the year. That was delicious.
