I finished reading this book at the weekend. It left me feeling angry and somewhat depressed, and I can't recommend it highly enough. It is in no way an "easy read" but lays bare many of the faults at the heart of the pharmaceutical industry, the advertising industry and the legal/political system in the US.

On a lighter note, I played two very enjoyable sets of doubles tennis this morning, the downside of this being that I am now feeling rather exhausted and in quite a bit of pain. "Long covid" really has been the gift that keeps on taking - I am so much better than I was, but if I overdo things the fatigue gives me slapping, and because I've become so unfit through inactivity it all hurts more than it should. Still, having read Empire of Pain I'm able to put my problems into some perspective and to count myself lucky to be on the mend.
