Birthday Cake

A big family lunch at The Bull in Hockley to celebrate my great-niece Adele’s 25th birthday. The Bull pub has been familiar to me all my life, because I grew up in that area and it’s next to the woods where I played as a child. Mum and Dad often used to take us to the woods entrance on a Sunday for an ice cream, so we have happy memories of the place. A few years ago I was heartbroken to learn that a fire had seriously damaged the pub, which is very old, but thankfully it has been restored and looks the same as ever.

Sunday lunch was so huge that I couldn’t manage any supper later, but I did eat my slice of the delicious cake my niece Sharon (Adele’s Mum) had baked. I’ve stolen her photo of the cake, as it’s the best picture to show it off!
