After staying with friends near Glasgow, we set off south to visit family and diverted to the Trafford Centre in Manchester. Although we have passed many times we never stopped but I wanted to visit the Samsung shop to see if they could sort out a problem that the Edinburgh store had been unable to solve. It’s a huge place with many shops and eateries but unlike most modern shopping malls, has interesting architecture with references to the classics and painted friezes mainly in pastel colours. There is an impression of opulence with marble staircases, fountains and real palm trees. This is a view from the top of a staircases beneath one of the domes with pictures representing former local scenes and the nearby Ship Canal. Our visit was very brief with no time to see much or look for a better photo.
