Sun through the holly trunks

The owner of this Permissive Path has been thinning out the holly trees on the right to get more light into the deciduous wood on the left in order, I was told to encourage more flowers.  There are bluebells and and increasing amount of foxgloves and today I saw a daffodil.  I am sure it’s just a rogue cultivated one but there’s daffodil woods in this area so I am going to inspect it when it’s out.  

Nice to start the day in sunshine and with a decent walk.  In mid afternoon I went up to London to babysit so B and C could go to Nick’s 80th birthday!  I was in charge all night.  Lovely welcome from Ivy although Leo still looks at me suspiciously.  The evening went well, they left me good notes but no sign of pyjamas for Ivy and I know she needs to stay warm in bed.  We searched and searched and in the end i popped her into leggings and a sweatshirt and by then she was so tired she passed right out! 

Then over supper I watched the Navalny documentary. I had been meaning to for some time and his appalling death pushed me to it.  I do recommend it, it’s on iPlayer. You get a really strong sense of the man and his tenacity and courage. The scene everyone talks about, where he identifies who attempted to poison him is remarkable, not least for how he persuades the man to talk.
