Copernicus's Nightmare

In Birmingham today. We wandered around and had coffee in the Jewellery Quarter, then went to Stryx community arts cafe for a collage session involving back issues of horror magazines, and some interesting but outdated picture books on houseplants, the science in science fiction, 1990s advancement of computer graphics technology, tennis, etc.

I've blipped my efforts: a modern day American honesteader welding an axe at Copernicus, the man in the moon looking on in horror between two more blue planets, while her house burns down.

We also went to a couple of galleries: the Royal Birmingham Society of Artists, which was showing a collection of mostly 1970s photos of the Black Country by Phil Loach; and the Ikon Gallery, which was showing a contemporary art exhibition by Exodus Crooks, curated by Orphée Kashala.

Our wanderings in the centre of town included climbing to the top of the new library to see the view, walking along the canals, and warming up at the Roundhouse, a restored 1870s storage and stabling facility.
