The first envelope  I opened  after coming home from our holiday contained  this leaflet (see extra).
 
“Protect your family from big funeral bills- get a free quote- special offer from Britain’s favourite funeral plan.
 
Well, I can tell you I am not chuffed.
 
But this is what happens when you reach a “certain age”.  Suddenly the morning post is full of offers for a world you never knew existed, or rather you didn’t want to know about, from special staircases to incontinence pads.
 
 
I am reminded of this leaflet today after reading about an undertaker in Surrey sending Valentine cards to all care home residents.
