Snowdrops Galore
I'd been promising myself a trip out to Welford Park near Newbury for some time. The park is well known for hosting the "Great British Bake Off" TV programme. As a working estate it is not generally open to the public, however every February it opens its gates to allow the public access to woodlands full of drifts of snowdrops.
The main beech woodland area with the snowdrops is a sight to behold; it almost looks like snow. Even better, an occasional break in the clouds allowed the sunshine through bringing it all to life. A pleasant walk around the gardens and along the River Lambourne and its multiple streams running through the grounds added up to a very enjoyable day.
