Long-tailed Drakes

The long-tailed ducks seemed to have left the Peedie Sea in Kirkwall for a while but there were a few there today. The drakes were pretty vocal and splashy, probably to impress watching females. They don't breed in Orkney but will pair up before leaving for breeding grounds in Iceland or Scandinavia, which saves time, useful given the short Northern summers.
