A time for everything

Shrove Tuesday

J. and I. were up early this morning, as they were wanting to reserve campgrounds for some Newfoundland parks in the summer, and the reservations opened up at 7.30 this morning, and they expected would go soon. Happily, they were successful, so then we had breakfast, and they were on theirnway down to Knoxville for tonight, and then down to Alabama tomorrow night. Late morning, R and I drove downtown to Music Live at Lunch at Christ Church Cathedral. Being Shrove Tuesday, or Mardi Gras, the music was provided as usual by a band called Lagniappe, that specializes in Louisiana Cajun music as performed with traditional instrumentation of accordion, fiddle, guitar and percussion. Some of them have been together for over 25 years. The founder graduated with a B.A. in French and went on to spend 10 years in Louisiana where he learned to play Cajun music. Another member, the percussionist was born in Brussels, Belgium and came to the U.S. in 1977 to teach French in Louisiana, so they have some authentic experience between them, and are always great fun to hear and watch. Since it was another lovely sunny day, we followed that with a walk by the river.
In the evening, of course, I had to cook us some crepes/pancakes!
