Hailstones in a tropical country?

We have haze last week and now for the first time (for me in Singapore), we have hailstones in Singapore! We hardly have much weather issues in here so it's quite a surprise to us. Strong winds had uprooted many trees ard my area.
Who knows one day, we will have snow here?
