Monet eat your heart out!
Up with the lark and onto a coach with friends to visit 2 fabulous gardens. The first was at Burnby Hall Pocklington (Yorkshire)where there is a national collection of water lilies and they were all just coming into flower. They made beautiful shapes in the water and reminded me of a visit to The Orangerie in Paris. I can see why Monet painted water lilies so often.
The second garden was a much loved gem of a garden owned and created by George Smith a famous flower arranger! I'm sure that is not the term one should use. That garden was at Heslington Manor just south of York and the planting was just gorgeous. Lots of structural plants, bold and blousy roses and paeonies, special trees and shrubs chosen for their flowers, irises, a white garden and I could go on and on! Beautiful. And of course exotic flower arrangements in the Manor House.
Had a blip crisis as had so many photos - and to choose on was difficult. but I went for my Monet!
