ICELAND DAY 6

This was such a full on day and we were exhausted by the end of it but it was truly awesome.

After a very rushed grab and go breakfast…We were at bus stop 1 at 7:30 and it was rather chilly. (-11)Luckily we didn’t have to wait too long and our driver was brilliant. He had us playing….Guess the tune. J was so good at it!! We then swapped coaches for our Golden Circle Tour.
#we arrived at Pingvellir National Park before sunrise in -15 degrees. It was a massive frozen lake 114m deep!!!!! It was the original site of parliament in 870AD when the settlers arrived.
#we then drove to watch the geysers where the snow was so deep J & S sat on top of the bench as the seat was buried.
#The geyser was pretty impressive…we watched it a few times but couldn’t hang around for long.
After warming up in the tourist shop and cafe we then went onto…
#the frozen Gullfoss waterfall. This is where I’ve never been so cold even my eyes hurt!!!!
However it was so beautiful Sue and I stayed for quite a while.

#The snowdrifts were over 6ft high in places.
We got back to the bus terminal at 4 and had to wait an hour for our bus to the Sky Lagoon.
##But wow wow wow it was worth the wait.
The most beautiful place. Soaking in the warm thermal waters surrounded by snowy mountains and it had a swim up bar so we had to partake:))) we did the 7 step ritual
Cold plunge (that took some guts)
Sauna (with breathtaking views from the 4mx3m glass wall. Then a cooling mist, body scrub, steam, shower and back to the lagoon for a beer! We got a taxi back to our favourite restaurant..,

It was now 8:00 and we were still on the go…next stop…
#Our free trip to see the Northern Lights…sadly we didn’t again!! We went up on deck several times between 9-11pm but no luck. But all agreed we were less disappointed than we had been on Monday as now we had seen such amazing sights today. However we were sure glad to see our beds at 11:30!!!!

SOMETIMES YOU HAVE AVDAY THAT LEAVES YOU SPEECHLESS
