Rain

So, after Pimms in the garden on Wednesday and the smell of freshly mown grass on Thursday, Friday brought in the sun-blocking morning mists and then Saturday finally delivered the rain.

I must say, I was very happy on Saturday morning, sitting in bed with a coffee and my book, enjoying the sound of the pouring rain through the wide open window. And while the rain does usually limit the options for the day, on this occasion we didn't care as Abi was going to a party, and Dan and I had an implacable plan to go and see 'Man of Steel'.

The film was very good. The Krytonian technology was brilliantly conceived - owing something to Iain M. Banks "e-dust", I thought - and the story wasn't bad at all. The fight and destruction scenes went on waaaay to long, to the point where I remembered I was watching a film, which is always a bad sign.

Here's an excerpt from Dan's review:

"The only bad things were it wasn't very well structured, and the important bits were quick. Like him meeting the ghost of his father, you don't expect:
Hi Dad.
Oh hi son.
How ya doing?
Fine. How's things on earth?
Good. How's mum.

Ok. Well, see you in heaven.
Yeah...heaven.
but that is basically what happened. If I met my long lost father I would spend the rest of my life with him, or at least a couple of hours. But nope, 2 minutes."
