Rurrenebaque!
I've just got back from 5 days in the amazon!
We arrived in Rurrenebaque a few hours late, as our flight had to wait until it stopped raining here. They only have a small concrete runway (newly built only a few years ago - before it was grass!), and they cant land when it is misty or rainy - which given that it is in the RAINforest, happens quite a lot!
We later found out we were lucky to have arrived at all. Emily and I had an extra day off work so flew on Thursday, but the other volunteers keen to come to the Amazon had their flight at 6 am on Friday. They were delayed and delayed until 10.30, when they finally took off - horrah. They were descending into rurranabaque when they popped out of the mist much closer to the ground than expected, and the pilot did an emergency take off again over the trees, and flew all the way back to La Paz!! So no Amazon for them!
As we were delayed we missed the beginning of our tour on Thursday, so we were told to come back and start tomorrow. We spent the day wondering around this sleepy town, unfortunately not sunbathing as it was raining most the day!
