Home Is Where the Heart Is
Today it is exactly 20 years since Mum and Dad moved to Tiptree. They had a very happy life together there for nearly eleven years, until Dad died in December 2014. Mum survived him for another eight years until December 2022, and I stayed with her for most of that time after my retirement in April 2015. Mum and I often talked about where I might end up living after she had gone, and she liked to think that I would stay in Tiptree. She urged me, if I did, to make it my own, decorating and furnishing it to my own taste. It was only after her death that I knew for sure that my heart lay there, and that I couldn’t bear to leave and go back to Buckinghamshire.
My Blip is of one of the window displays in a home interiors shop in Tiptree, with the sky and trees reflected and mixing in with all the hearts. It’s on a corner where there used to be a Barclays Bank branch, which I went inside many times with my parents. I’m hoping I might be needing to go in there again before too long, if only I can get my flat sold. Fingers crossed.
Another part of the window display makes for a cheeky Extra ;-)
